The Delton Fire Department was organized on February 2, 1932 with six men and 1/3 ownership of a fire truck with the Kilbourn and Newport.
Currently the Delton Fire Department is owned by the Village of Lake Delton and the
Town of Delton and is governed by the Delton Fire and Ambulance Commission.
The Commission employs a full time fire chief and 30 paid per call firefighters.
Delton firefighters respond to:
147 fire calls and 136 rescue calls, for total of 283 calls in 2001
144 fire calls and 100 rescue calls, for total of 244 calls in 2002
212 fire calls and 119 rescue calls, for total of 331 calls in 2003
167 fire calls and 155 rescue calls, for total of 322 calls in 2004
169 fire calls and 124 rescue calls, for total of 293 calls in 2005
159 fire calls and 110 rescue calls, for total of 269 calls in 2006
183 fire calls and 140 rescue calls, for total of 323 calls in 2007.
Firefighters are trained in: fire suppression, wildland fires, hazardous materials, vehicle extrication, confined space rescue, high/low angle rescue, water/ice rescue, search and rescue and airport rescue.
Apparatus Currently in Service:
- 1990 Custom pumper/1500 gpm-1250 gallons of water
- 1999 Pierce pumper/1250 gpm-1000 gallons of water
- 2004 Custom tanker/350 gpm-2000 gallons of water
- 2000 Munroe tanker/550 gpm-3500 gallons of water
- 2001 E-one 95" tower/2000 gpm- 500 gallons of water
- 1993 Welch heavy rescue/Jaws of Life-air support-light support- mobile command
- 1997 Chevy 4x4 grass unit/350 gpm - 150 gallons of water
- 2003 Dodge 4x4 4 door pick-up/support vehicle
- 1993 Starcraft/14’ rescue boat
